Well Woman Care

Welcome to MyDoctor DPC!

An annual well-woman exam is one of the best ways to stay healthy at any age.

At MyDoctor Direct Primary Care, I perform well-woman exams customized to meet your needs.

I’m here to help you stay healthy and happy.

A well-woman exam is a yearly checkup. During the exam, I will perform a pelvic exam, a clinical breast exam, and other tests as needed. Often, a well-woman exam includes a Pap smear or HPV testing, and it can sometimes include vaccinations, such as the HPV vaccination to prevent cervical cancer if needed.

Your well-woman exam also includes birth control, family planning, and sexual health support. If you need birth control like oral contraceptives, I can prescribe it during your well-woman exam.

Although sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing isn’t routinely included in a well-woman exam, you can get the appropriate tests at that time, too. You can also have a pregnancy test during your well-woman exam.

Q&A

Well Woman Exam

I always takes the time to truly be there for my patients. I want you to feel comfortable, so I'm completely discreet. I generally ask about topics that include:

  • Period frequency and duration
  • Current birth control methods
  • Current methods of STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection) protection
  • Family planning goals
  • Sexual habits and history
  • Medical history
  • Current medical conditions or problems
  • Current medications

I may also ask about recreational habits, like alcohol, smoking, and drug use. You can be completely honest when discussing your personal life with me. The more detailed you are, the better I can help you be healthy and achieve your goals.

A Pap smear is a test that examines a small sample of your cervical cells to check for abnormal changes that might indicate cervical cancer. Nearly all women in the 21-65 year age range need regular Pap Smears every 3 to 5 years. I will make customized recommendations based on your health and situation.

Regular Pap smears are vital because they can often uncover early cervical abnormalities. This means you can get treatment to remove potentially dangerous cells before they can become cancerous and affect your health and wellbeing.
